Gary,s k-24 ek civic street racer
Gary wanted a race car that he could drive to the race track but at the same time he wanted to make sure his car could run well into the 12's down the quarter mile dragstrip. So the choice was a 97 Honda civic to ensure a very light body, and couple the light car with a very big motor. The motor choice was not hard.I was going to be a k24 TSX motor build.A TSX block with custom internals, RSX type S head, racing cams, JDM PRC intake manifold with an R-crew intake plenum spacer all matched ported to a BDL 70 mm throttle body.To make sure all the mixture would come out of the motor we installed a custom k24 R-crew race header and full 3 inch exhaust.A Hondata k-pro would be added to make sure all was running in order. The swap is not hard but there is lots to do.Hasport mounts and custom harness were used and of course as usual the Hasport parts were perfect.A six speed type S transmission was chosen with the addition of a Quife LSD differential, and a Exedy stage 2 clutch kit was bolted to a JDM ITR flywheel. The car is running at this time, and dyno results will be posted as soon as they are available, the car will be racing in the summer of 2008
Good luck Gary
The car made 282 hp and 202 tq at the wheels on the dynapak, and at the track it was an almost flawless season. The car ran a best et of 11.82@117 mph. We tried various slick and transmissions, but ended up at it started with the m and h slick's and type S transmission. There will be some small changes to the setup this year in the hopes to get to 300 whp, updates shortly
